Newly joining Ridgeway as the Partner heading up the Consumer practice, Kate focuses on consumer brands, retail, leisure and FMCG businesses at the executive and non executive level. With over 15 years’ experience in executive search, Kate honed her skills working for a select collection of corporate and boutique firms, latterly running her own business. During this time, Kate has not only built up a strong network but also a reputation for her rigorous, questioning approach, honest appraisals and straightforward manner.
What is the single most important challenge facing clients today and how can we help?
The huge changes, accelerated by the pandemic, in how most people now live and work. This is having a significant impact on leadership behaviour with greater emphasis being placed on the qualities of collaboration, empathy and agility. At Ridgeway, we pride ourselves on “walking the talk”, working collaboratively with each other and in partnership with our clients to unearth leaders with those qualities.
How have clients’ expectations changed during your time in search?
Clients are increasingly seeking to appoint senior executives who can instil or reinforce a culture of agility and innovation in response to the shifting demands of customers. To achieve this, companies have recognised the imperative to expand search parameters, exploring adjacent markets and competencies, to access a more diverse talent pool and encourage new thinking. Attracting diverse talent (age, gender, ethnicity, background and skills) is therefore critical to our clients’ success and has become an integral part of every search we do.
